Boys basketball: Knights hit century mark in win over Lanier

SUGAR HILL -- The Johnson boys basketball team defeated Lanier 105-88 in a key road region game on Friday in Sugar Hill.

The Knights jumped out to a 25-15 lead after the first quarter and extended the lead to 20 at the half, 57-37. Johnson outscored Lanier 28-24 in the third quarter to keep control with a 85-61 lead.

The Knights (14-3, 3-0 8-AAAA) were led by James Hodges with a career-high 38 points and six rebounds. Ty Cockfield also scored 22 points to go along with four assists. Justin Jones scored 16 and added four assists. Carter Cagle added 16 points, and Drew Dunham chipped in 10 points to go along with six assists.

Lanier was led by Simon Shafack with 25 points and Paul Webb scored 22.

Johnson is back in action Monday at the BCB MLK Classic vs No. 5 Buford. The game is at Berkmar High at 1:30 p.m.
