CORNELIA - An early-morning fire on Myrtle Street in Cornelia on Friday left four people displaced.

Cornelia Fire Chief Frankie Smith said his department responded to the fire with two pumper trucks and 14 firefighters.

"The fire was in the attic," Smith said. "It was about a five- to six-room house."

The house was located about half way between Veterans Memorial Drive and Circle Drive.

There were no injuries.

"It was possibly caused from a wood heater," Smith said. "They couldn't stay there it was so bad."

The American Red Cross was called to assist four people who were in the home at the time of the fire.
