Barrow County Sheriff's Lieutenant Matt Guthas said Raymond Smith, 30, of Monroe, was arrested last week in Orange County, New York, after leading state troopers on a high speed chase.
Smith had been sought as the accomplice to Timothy Headley, 24, of Conyers.
Guthas explained Smith's involvement in the November 21, 2013, robbery.
"Mr. Smith did not enter the Verizon store, he actually drove the car away from the scene."
"He acted as the get-away driver," Guthas said. "Other information...indicates that he had a foreknowledge in the planning and organization of the actual robbery."
According to Lt. Guthas, Headley was the one who entered the store, threatened to shoot the employee, and left with over $12,000 worth of merchandise. Headley was subsequently arrested on December 18th. Smith fled to New York.
Headley remains in the custody of the Barrow County Sheriff's Office. Smith is awaiting extradition from New York.
