GLENDORA, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities are questioning two persons of interest detained shortly after the start of a wildfire burning out of control near homes in the dangerously dry foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Raymond Roth tells The Associated Press that Glendora police detained the pair early Thursday near Colby Trail, where the fire is believed to have started.

Roth stresses that they are not suspects.

The blaze has charred at least 125 acres above a neighborhood abutting a canyon of Angeles National Forest, just north of the San Gabriel Valley community of Glendora.

Evacuations have been ordered for houses at the edge of the fire, which started about 5:50 a.m.
