GAINESVILLE - The Center for Family Prosperity is teaming up with Georgia Mountain Food Bank to offer free income tax preparation services to even more people this year.

The Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center will open the 2014 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Site on Wednesday, January 29.

Phillippa Lewis Moss, Director of the Community Service Center, said since VITA opened in 2009 they have completed 867 tax returns and the numbers increase every year.

"Families continue to look for ways to cut costs and make the most of their annual state and federal refund checks. Making an appointment will give each taxpayer the personal assistance they need to file an accurate return. The free tax preparation services are offered by IRS trained volunteers and are available to families with annual gross incomes up to $49,000.00," Moss said.

Tax services will be offered at the Community Service Center at 430 Prior Street, in Gainesville on Wednesdays from 3:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday, February 8 and February 22 from 9:00am-4:00pm through March 5 by appointment only.

Tax services will be offered at the Georgia Mountain Food Bank at 1642 Calvary Industrial Drive, on Fridays beginning January 31 from 3:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday, February 15 and March 1 from 9:00am-4:00pm through March 21 by appointment only.
