HOMER - Noncompliance during routine warrant service near Maysville resulted in deputies deploying a taser on a wanted man just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Banks County Chief Deputy Shawn Wilson provided details of the incident.

"Banks County sheriff's deputies were serving a probation warrant on a male subject, Joseph Smallwood, at a residence on Russ Rumsey Road," Wilson said. "Upon arrival, Smallwood attempted to flee from the residence. The deputies had to use a taser before Smallwood would comply with their commands."

An ambulance was called to check out Smallwood following the incident.

"Banks County EMS responded to the scene and it was determined that he would be taken to a local hospital by the sheriff's office for further evaluation," Wilson said.
