What initially was believed to be one seven-vehicle pileup at Deaton Henry Road turned out to be thee separate wrecks involving six vehicles, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The trouble started around 4:00 p.m. when troopers said the driver of southbound vehicle slowed to turn on Deaton Henry. A pickup truck rear-ended it.
Troopers said the second accident involved three vehicles, a chain reaction rear-end collision. It happened when a driver slowed to avoid the first crash.
The third wreck happened when a driver crested the hill and swerved to miss the first two wrecks. That vehicle went off the road and hit a tree according to the patrol.
Authorities said no one suffered injuries in the crashes that blocked lanes until about 6:20 p.m. Troopers issued two citations for following too closely.
