Girls basketball: Lakeview, White County, Buford get region wins

WATKINSVILLE -- Lakeview Academy held Athens Academy scoreless in the first quarter en route to a 68-32 win Friday in Region 8-A action.

The Lady Lions (9-5, 5-0 Region 8-A) led 30-16 at halftime and then put the game out of reach with a 22-6 third quarter run.

Kaylee McClendon led Lakeview Academy with 13 points, and Hanna Grogan had 12.

The Lady Lions play host to George Walton Academy on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

WHITE COUNTY GIRLS 39, EAST HALL 34: White County rallied from an early deficit to knock off East Hall in a Region 7-AAA battle in Cleveland.

East Hall led 12-10 after the first quarter but White County (10-3, 3-2 Region 7-AAA) outscored the Lady Vikings 16-9 over the next two quarters to grab the lead.

Paige Thomas had 12 points, eight rebounds and six steals to pace White County. Kaitlyn Gearing added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Warriors.

Jatasia Bailey led East Hall with 11 points.

BUFORD GIRLS 54, WEST HALL 34: The Lady Wolves remained unbeaten in Region 7-AAA after taking a road win over the Lady Spartans.

Camille Anderson paced Buford with 16 points. Bree Horrocks had 10 points for the Lady Wolves.
Macy Passmore led West Hall with 10 points. Maia Booker had nine and Meghan Kelling added eight for the Lady Spartans.
