GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Sheriff's Office Thursday afternoon said DNA test results on a body found at Chestnut Ridge Park last fall have confirmed the identity.

According to the sheriff's office, the body has been identified as Kayla Nelson, also know as Kayla Weil, 21. Authorities said she was last seen in June 2013, but her relatives did not report her missing from Flowery Branch until September 2013. Her body was discovered in October 2013.

Investigators have released no details on the cause of death.

The body was discovered wrapped in a blanket inside a bathroom at the park.

The park was closed several years ago by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but authorities said people often entered the park via Lake Lanier.

Authorities last October announced that they believed the person to be a victim of homicide.
