SUWANEE - Police in Suwanee say a man who was being chased by two bail bondsmen had to be pulled from the Chattahoochee River after he either fell or jumped into the frigid water.

Suwanee Police Capt. Cass Mooney told local media outlets that 31-year-old Ernesto Galvez was clinging to a tree branch before he was pulled from the river on Wednesday afternoon by rescue crews.

Authorities say the man was wanted on a misdemeanor probation violation out of Gwinnett County, a failure to appear warrant from the City of Suwanee and another warrant from Seattle.

Police say the man was hospitalized and is being treated for hypothermia.
