Holloway elected Helen mayor for 2014

HELEN - The Helen City Commission has elected Commissioner Judy Holloway to serve as mayor for 2014.

The vote came during Tuesday's city commission meeting, in which the re-elected Holloway was sworn in both as city commissioner and as mayor.

Re-elected Commissioner Helen Wilkins also was sworn in during Tuesday's meeting.

Joining Holloway and Wilkins in receiving their oaths of office was newly-seated Commissioner Fred Garmon.

Commissioner Dona K. Burke, who was not present at Tuesday's meeting, was elected mayor pro tem for 2014.

Also during Tuesday's meeting, Holloway presented former Mayor Lynn Whitener with a plaque for his service to the city.
