ATHENS, Ga. (AP) A man accused of fatally shooting a police officer in Athens has again been found mentally competent to stand trial.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports that Clarke County Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard has set a Jan. 31 arraignment date for Jamie Hood.

Hood has been charged with fatally shooting Officer Elmer ``Buddy'' Christian and wounding police officer Tony Howard. He was also charged with shooting and killing a 30-year-old man in 2010.

Although Hood has already been found competent for trial, his lawyers have said their client is paranoid and suffers from delusions.
