Supt. Merrianne Dyer says the times, dates and places for signing up vary, depending on the age of the student and other factors.
Dr. Dyer says the dates for enrollment in elementary school programs are January 6-31. For middle and high school students it is February 3-28.
Elementary
There are five charter magnet programs from which parents may select:
Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy
Centennial Arts Academy
Fair Street School: An Authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program
Gainesville Exploration Academy: A NASA Explorer School
New Holland Knowledge Academy: A Classical Studies Academy
For students currently enrolled in Gainesville City Schools in grades K-4:
Parents will receive an enrollment form from the current school in which to select the school of choice. The forms should be completed and returned to the school or district office by January 31, 2014. Proof of residency must be attached to the form, i.e., water, lease or mortgage, gas or electric bill.
For students entering Kindergarten or newly enrolling in Gainesville City Schools in grades 1-5:
Parents may register at the Wood's Mill Registration Center at 715 Wood's Mill Rd. Gainesville, GA 30501 and select their school of choice. The choice enrollment period is from January 6-31, 2014.
Parents should bring the following documents:
Proof of residency - copy of lease or mortgage agreement, water, gas, or electric bill; for non-city residents, an application for non-residents will be provided.
Birth Certificate
Current immunization record
Social Security Card
For current Pre-K students in Gainesville City Schools:
Parents must enroll their child for Kindergarten and select the school of choice at the Wood s Mill Registration Center from January 6-31, 2014.
Middle and High Schools
Parents will be able to select the program delivery options of blended learning which features computer based learning as well as teacher supported work-groups or teacher directed learning academy programs. More information will be provided after January 22, 2014.
