Boys basketball: Knights rout Dunwoody, ready for 8-AAAA

OAKWWOOD -- The Johnson boys tuned up for its upcoming Region 8-AAAA season with a 78-64 win over Dunwoody Saturday at home.

The Knights (10-3) jumped out to a 20-8 lead after the 1st quarter and cruised the rest of the way. Theyn pushed their lead to 45-21 by halftime.

Johnson outscored Dunwoody 19-17 in the third quarter and put the game out of reach with a 12-6 run to open the fourth quarter.

Johnson was paced by James Hodges with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Ty Cockfield scored 17 points to go along with six assists, Justin Jones added 14 points and six rebounds, and Rod English and Carter Cagle each added eight points for the Knights.

Dunwoody was led by Shun Jones with 26 points.

Johnson will travel to Madison County on Tuesday to open Region 8-AAAA play.
