DAWSONVILLE - Dawson County authorities, family and friends are searching for two young men, missing since about 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

According to Dawson County Sheriff's Major Tony Wooten, Mason Cox and David Wood, both 20, were last seen on Fredericks Cove off Georgia 400.

Authorities went to social media.

"(in) hopes that either someone has either seen them or that they realize now that family is now looking for them," Wooten said."

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from a neighbor's home.

"(It) showed a vehicle coming in to the subdivision, that stated the time that would be consistent with the fact that someone could have been there to pick them up," Wooten said.

Wooten said foul play is not suspected.

He said fishing poles and other items belonging to the men made it back home, with the possibility the two friends left again.

Family and friends of the men gathered for a Friday afternoon news conference to ask the public for information.

"We just want to appeal to anyone out there to help us find them. David, Mason, if you can hear this, please call somebody. Call us, call somebody, we're very worried about you. We just want to find our boys," Ethelyn Geiger, Wood's mother, said.

Geiger and Cox's mother, Lea Anne Cox, said the young men have been friends for years, and that it wasn't uncommon for them to go night fishing. The women described the men as good boys, both athletic and experienced outdoors.

"Everybody is here for them. Nothing is going to happen. Everything is great. If anything is wrong, don't worry, we're here to support you. Look at all of these people behind you, they love you, we're here," Lea Anne Cox said, speaking directly to the men during the news conference.

Wooten said anyone with information on the case can call 911 or Investigator Christopher Murphy at (706) 344-3636. Wooten said no tip is too small.
