Softball: Lady Panthers finish up home schedule in style

JEFFERSON -- The Jackson County softball team closed out its final home game of the regular season with a 9-3 win over region foe North Oconee on Monday.

The Lady Panthers (19-8, 11-2 Region 8-AAA) were led by a complete game performance from Jessica Baker in the pitching circle. Baker allowed eight hits and two earned runs, while striking out five batters.

Offensively, Madi Pecht scored three runs, with an RBI and went 2-for-3. Alyssa Dasher also scored two runs and was 2-for-2, while Shelton Kendrix had two RBI and a run scored. Mason Garland had an RBI and scored one run. Peyton Sorrells also had an RBI.

Jessica Burke and Destiny Gaudlock also each scored a run.

Jackson County will travel to face Franklin County at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday to close out the regular season.
