Cornelia holding public hearing on mass annexation

CORNELIA - The City of Cornelia is holding a public hearing at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 24, regarding the proposed annexation of several areas adjacent to the city.

"The area consists of 219 parcels of land, approximately 274 acres, 460 people, and 4.2 miles of roads," said Cornelia City Manager Donald Anderson. "The streets to be annexed include a portion of Camp Creek Road, a portion of Chase Road, Rosecliff Drive, Sellers Loop, Lawrence Street, Valley Drive, Ridgeway Circle, Lakeview Heights, Lakeview Heights Circle, Chase Summit Lane, Colony Way, Windsor Drive, Echo Street and Hillandale Street."

Subdivisions include Lakeview Heights, Ridgewood Estates, Rosecliff and Hillandale.

The area is located between the current city boundary and its water treatment plant.

The public hearing is set for 6 p.m. at the Cornelia Community House, 601 Wyly St., Cornelia.

A referendum on the annexation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5.
