GAINESVILLE - This year will mark the 25th year for Shore Sweep - the annual cleanup of Lake Lanier, hosted by the Lake Lanier Association.

It returns Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8:00-1:00.

This annual event nets an average of 30+ tons of trash and other debris from the lake and the shoreline each year.

Both both land-based and water-based volunteers are needed. Participating locations include: Bald Ridge, Habersham, Port Royale, Gainesville, Sunrise Cove, Aqualand, Lanier Harbor, and Holiday marinas as well as Lake Lanier Islands, War Hill and Clarks Bridge parks. Volunteers should report at 8:00 to one of these locations.

Reservations by volunteers are not required, but are helpful in planning for the event. For more information or if you would like to RSVP, email the association at [email protected].
