The Macon Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1acK4hD) reports that a judge resentenced Eddie William Finney to three consecutive life sentences on Friday.
The judge ruled the 56-year-old man is mentally disabled and couldn't be put to death.
Finney and another man were convicted of killing 67-year-old Thelma Kalish and 65-year-old Ann Kaplan 36 years ago. The women were close friends.
A prosecutor says the women were abducted and beaten to death with a 2-by-4.
Johnny Mack Westbrook died on death row before he could be executed, and Finney kept appealing.
Prosecutors didn't dispute during a hearing that Finney is mentally disabled. Tests show he has the mental function of a 6- or 7-year-old.
