GAINESVILLE - A mobile home in the 2000 block of Mountain View Road suffered heavy smoke damage after fire broke out in a bedroom about 9:00 Wednesday night.

Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle says there were flames showing from windows when firefighters arrived.

"Firefighters were able to make a quick knock down of the fire and were able to search the structure -no one was found in the home," Cagle said, adding, "Fire was contained to the back bedroom but the entire mobile home sustained heavy smoke damage throughout and is unlivable."

Cagle said the eight occupants, two adults and six children, were planning to stay with relatives Wednesday night but "will get assistance from Red Cross tomorrow (Thursday)." They were not at home at the time of the fire.

Cagle said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
