ATLANTA - State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge Tuesday named 50 students from around Georgia to serve on his 2013-2014 Student Advisory Council. The list includes three students from Jefferson High School

In all, six students from Northeast Georgia were selected:
Kaitlyn Ellington of Winder-Barrow High School, Asher Thompson of Lambert High in Forsyth County; Bradi Southern of Mountain Education Charter School in Ellijay; and Daniel Kimmel, Ryan Romano and Jordan Tyler, all of Jefferson High School.

As members of the council, these students will meet three times throughout the school year to advise Barge on how state policies are having an impact in the classroom. The Student Advisory Council will also discuss other education-related issues and will serve as the Superintendent's ambassadors in their respective schools.
