CUMMING - Is Forsyth County on the threshold of another residential building boom? One might think so as the county planning commission prepares to hear requests for another 500+ housing units - one month after considering several other applications totaling about 500.

When planners meet Sept. 24, their agenda is expected to include requests for 510 housing units, single-family, assisted living, and multi-family. At their Aug. 27 meeting, the prepared agenda included applications involving several projects totaling 553 lots for single-family homes. (See earlier story. Link below.)

The agenda for Sept. 24 includes four projects dealing with housing units:

*The Providence Group of Georgia, LLC plans 115 lots on 30 acres on Peachtree Parkway near Brookwood Road and is requesting single-family zoning.

*H. Gilstrap Development, LP will ask for approval for senior housing-independent living/assisted living on 87 acres on Old Atlanta Road across from St. Marlo Country Club Parkway: 254 units, including 104 for senior housing-independent living and 150 for assisted living.

*D.R. Horton, Inc. plans 11 single-family lots on eight acres on Echols Road near Buford Highway.

*E. Howard Carson, Jr. plans 130 attached residential units on 24 acres on Stoney Point Road near Peachtree Parkway.

The planning commission meets Sept. 24 at 6:30 in the commission meeting room at the Forsyth County Administration Building.
