Clarkesville Street in Cornelia reopens after sinkhole repair

CORNELIA - Clarkesville Street in downtown Cornelia has reopened a month after being closed due to a sinkhole near Stovall Alley.

Higgins Construction Co. of Cornelia completed the repairs and the street, which had been closed between the Cornelia Depot and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, reopened as of 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.

The road is a major thoroughfare between Main Street and Veterans Memorial Drive.
