ATLANTA (AP) - Police say a fugitive wanted on murder charges has been arrested after a standoff and shootout with police in a southwest Atlanta neighborhood.

WSB-TV reports no one was injured by gunfire Saturday as 41-year-old Victoriano Javier Perez tried to escape from U.S. Marshals through a window while holding a gun. Atlanta Police Capt. Scott Keher says officers fired at Perez but missed. He then retreated back inside the home where he had been found for an hour before surrendering.

Authorities say Perez was wanted in Clayton County, where he's charged with murder in a fatal shooting last June. It wasn't immediately known Saturday if Perez had an attorney.

After his arrest, Perez was treated for a cut on his arm suffered as he tried to escape through a window.
