Dragons keep rolling with rout of rival Jackson County

JEFFERSON -- Jefferson held Jackson County to just 91 total yards in a 49-0 rout in a battle of cross-town rivals Friday night at Panthers Stadium.

The Dragons (2-0) sacked Panthers quarterback Jacob Lewis four times and forced two turnovers.

While the defense was holding the Panthers in check, Jefferson's offense racked up big numbers. The Dragons finished with 433 total yards, including 297 yards on the ground.

Tristen Jackson had 138 yards and one touchdown to lead Jefferson on the ground. Isaiah Blake added 102 yards on 16 carries, including touchdown runs 13, 2, and 9 yards. He also caught four passes for another 65 yards.

Junior quarterback Evan Shirreffs was 8-of-15 for 136 yards and one touchdown. The Dragons also got field goals from Austin Pankevich (34, 44 yards) and Douglas Giles (32).

Jackson County (0-2) ran just 37 plays on offense. Lewis finished 9-of-19 for 48 yards passing and ran for 16 yards on 10 carries to lead the Panthers.

Xavier Harper had four catches for 21 yards for Jackson County.

Jefferson will play host to North Hall next Friday, while Jackson County will look to bounce back against Athens Christian.
