Raiders get first shutout since 2010, whip Forsyth Central

COAL MOUNTAIN -- North Forsyth recorded its first shuout win since 2010 with a dominating 31-0 victory over rival Forsyth Central Friday night in both teams' season openers.

The Raiders (1-0) held the Bulldogs (0-1) to just 136 total yards for the game.

While the defense was clamping down on forsyth Central, quarterback Harris Roberts led the way for the Raiders. Harris ran for 79 yards and one touchdown and threw for 71 yards and one touchdown.

Roberts gave North Forsyth a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 27-yard TD run. Joseph bailey added a 30-yard field goal early in the second quarter and then Roberts connected on a 27-yard TD pass to Colton Miller to give the Raiders a 17-0 halftime lead.

Miller would finish with 43 yards receiving on three catches.

The Raiders put the game away in the second half as Zach Slayton scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter and Payton Holbrooks capped the scoring with an 8-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

Forsyth Central quarterback Michael Branigan had a nice game rushing for 43 yards and hitting 16-of-20 passes for 74 yards to seven different receivers.
