CLARKESVILLE - The Mountain Judicial Circuit now has an additional juvenile court judge.

The circuit, which includes Habersham, Rabun and Stephens counties, has the caseload to require the additional judge, according to an order by Mountain Judicial Circuit Chief Superior Court Judge Chan Caudell.

The order from Caudell appointing Nichole Carswell to the bench was signed July 10, and recorded throughout the circuit in the couple days that followed.

Carswell's four-year term runs from July 1, 2013-June 30, 2017, and is on a part-time basis consisting of one day per week.

According to Caudell's order, Carswell is at least 30 years of age, has been a citizen of the state for at least three years, and has been practicing law within the judicial circuit for at least five years. Those factors qualify her to serve in the new capacity.
