Volleyball: Lady Vikings continue perfect start

SUGAR HILL -- The East Hall girls volleyball team continued its strong start to the season sweeping a pair of matches Thursday at the Lanier High gym.

The Lady Vikings knocked off Duluth in a tight three-set match 25-15, 20-25, 25-12, and then they held off Lanier in another close three-set affair 25-19, 18-25, 25-16.

Kara Hix went on an 11 point service run to win the first game. Ashleigh Burnett went on a 13-point service run after Jessica Chmiel started the game with a seven-point service run.

Tarryn Long had 10 points on serve with five aces. She also had 22 kills and 22 digs. Hix also had 10 kills and 38 digs for the lady Vikings (9-0).

Ashleigh Burnett finished with 19 points on serve with eight to go with five assists, six kills and three digs. Cassida Shockley scored nine points on serve to go with 28 assists.

Jessica Chmiel had 23 points scored on serve with eight aces. Emily Roberts had 13 kills and eight blocks and Allison Segars had 22 points scored on serve with three aces, four kills, and five blocks.
