NGMC names two new vice presidents

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) has named two new vice presidents.

Karen Watts is the new Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, and Sonja McLendon is the new Vice President of Professional Services.

Watts will have administrative responsibility for Operative Services, Women & Children's Services, Medical/Surgical Services, Emergency Services, Critical Care, Long Term Care, Medical Transport, Central Staffing, Diabetes Education and Wound Healing.

She comes to the medical center with more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Good Shepherd Health System in Longview, Texas.

McLendon will have administrative responsibility for Bariatrics, Orthopedic/Neuroscience, Rehabilitation Institute, Hospice, Laboratory, Imaging, Behavioral Health, Pharmacy, Security, Plant Operations, Nutrition and
Environmental Services.

McLendon most recently served as Vice President of Ancillary and Outpatient Services at ValleyCare Health System in Pleasanton, Calif., where she oversaw many of the same services she leads at NGMC.
