Volleyball: East Hall opens season with sweep of Branch, Lumpkin

DAHLONEGA -- The East Hall Lady Vikings started their 2013 regular season with a pair of wins on Tuersday over Flowery Branch and Lumpkin County in Dahlonega.

The Lady Vikings beat Flowery Branch in straight sets 27-25, 25-16 to start the evening and defeated Lumpkin County in straight sets 25-14,25-16.

Cassida Shockley had 11 points on serve with three aces, to go along with one dig and 30 assists. Ashleigh Burnett also had eight points on serve with two kills and 10 digs, while Kara Hix scored 12 points on serve with one assist, six kills and 35 digs. Tarryn Long also scored two points on serve with 26 kills and nine digs, and Jessica Chmiel had 17 points scored on serve, one ace, six assists and two digs. Emily Roberts added one block and one kill; Allison Segars had six points scored on serve with two aces, four kills, one block and three digs; Savannah Lindsey scored four points on serve with six digs.

The Lady Vikings will play next at Eastside on Saturday in the Eagle Attack Playdate.
