CUMMING - With the new school year almost here, Forsyth County authorities are getting proactive when it comes to making sure registered sex offenders toe the line.

"Our specialized units will go and check on our registered sex offenders who are currently living in Forsyth County to make sure they're abiding by state law," Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater said.

The effort involves the sheriff's department's PACE Unit, and Georgia probation officers.

Rainwater said the team visited several registered sex offenders Monday and conducted 4th amendment waiver searches. They ended up arresting four of them.

"Once we knocked on their door, we found different things, and they were arrested for violating their probation under the sex offender registry statue," Rainwater said.

Andrew Vincent Cole, 25, of Karr Road violated his probation by letting someone with drugs enter his dwelling, according to Rainwater.

Authorities said Eric James Hamilton, 45, of Hurt Bridge Road had adult pornography and ammunition inside his residence.

Chad Lee Meade, 46, of Post Road, allegedly violated his probation by having drug paraphernalia inside his residence.

Investigators also arrested Robert Michael Tidwell, 59, of Dawsonville Highway for allegedly having video on his cell phone of locations he is not permitted to be at or near.

Michela Marie Rice, 21, faced a drug possession charge in connection with the Karr Road visit, according to the sheriff's office.
