LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett County Police Department is conducting three separate death investigations involving four victims since Saturday. Investigators are considering all of the deaths as homicides at this point.

Gwinnett Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said each incident is a separate case and all are unrelated.

Ritter said the first case involved two victims, a married couple, found stabbed to death at their home on Worrall Hill Way in unincorporated Duluth on Saturday at 9:50 p.m. The victims have been identified as Sun Hee Choi, 59, and her husband Young Chan Choi, 63. The couple owned Best Supply in Norcross, according to police.

Witnesses told investigators they saw a white passenger car at the scene prior to the murders. They also said a man with a box of apples was seen at the Choi's front door.

The second case is being treated as a homicide, although investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the victim's exact cause of death. Police said the body of 26-year-old Darinel Martinez Lopez was found Sunday around 3 p.m. in a wooded area at Bella Vista Apartments on Satellite Boulevard. A pedestrian found the body, according to authorities.

Then, Monday morning, Gwinnett police were called to an apartment complex on South Norcross-Tucker Road. A white male was found shot to death at the scene, and another white male was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be a gunshot wound, according to Ritter. Identities have not been released in that case.

While the four deaths did happen in a concentrated period of time, Ritter said the number of homicides for Gwinnett County this year is actually lower than in the recent past.

"The amount that we had over the weekend is rare, to begin with, but when you combine those numbers with the other numbers that we've had for the year, it's still extremely low," said Ritter.

All three cases remain under active investigation.
