PERRY, Ga. (AP) - A middle Georgia teenager has pleaded guilty to killing her 12-year-old sister and setting fire to their house in hopes of covering up the crime.

The Telegraph of Macon reports (http://bit.ly/16ikXri) 18-year-old Carmen Collins was sentenced to life in prison Friday after she pleaded guilty to malice murder and arson charges in the July 2012 slaying in Kathleen, about 25 miles south of Macon.

Prosecutors say the teenager shot her younger sister, India Ja'Nai Collins, six times with her father's gun while chasing her through the house. Prosecutors say Collins was running away from home and got angry when her younger sister tried to stop her and threatened to call their parents.

Collins was arrested in Columbus two days after the killing. She was scheduled to stand trial in August.
