CORNELIA - An armed robbery at a home near Cornelia Tuesday afternoon left a victim injured, one suspect in custody and two other suspects being sought by law enforcement personnel.

"The investigation is showing this was a drug-related armed robbery and aggravated assault," said Col. Greg Bowen, chief deputy of the Habersham County Sheriff's Office.

Bowen said three people entered a residence on Lakeview Heights Circle.

"One suspect had a rifle and beat the victim in the head and face," Bowen said. "The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. One subject is in custody and two others are being sought after."

The call to the home, located off Chase Road, was received a little after 4 p.m., and deputies, assisted by police officers from Cornelia and Mt. Airy, responded along with medical personnel.

Habersham County sheriff's investigators and Mountain Judicial Circuit Narcotics Criminal Investigation and Suppression (NCIS) Team agents are continuing the investigation, Bowen said.
