GAINESVILLE - Katie Mathis Dubnik has opened a new marketing and public relations firm in Gainesville, Forum Communications.

A third generation Gainesville native, Dubnik says she was inspired by the business legacy that her grandfather, James Mathis Sr., and father, James Mathis Jr., built through their development of Home Federal Savings and Loan, and knew her dream to establish her own company could become a reality.

"People often tell me how grateful they are to my Grandfather for giving them their first home loan, or how my Dad helped start their business by assisting them with a loan," says Dubnik. "My Dad and Grandfather significantly impacted the lives of many in our community through their work, and it's my goal to make the same kind of community impact through Forum Communications."

She describes Forum Communications as a strategic marketing and public relations firm dedicated to helping organizations create their individual "Forumula" for success by developing and implementing effective communication strategies. Offering public relations services, graphic design, marketing strategy, collateral development (including print, video and internet-based materials), and expertise in special events, Dubnik said her goal is to help clients find their voice in a crowded marketplace.

"My father would be extremely proud of Katie in this new endeavor," says James Mathis, Jr. "He always played the role of the great motivator to my two girls, asking them what was next and pushing them until they found success."

"Dad came up with some great ideas for marketing the bank. From the Curb Market to Skippy the Squirrel, he was always innovating and the apple did not fall far from the tree with Katie," Mathis continues. "She's creative, talented and smart but, more importantly, she has the heart and passion to truly help people and impact lives."

Dubnik received her Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing from the University of Georgia and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Health Administration (MHA) from Georgia State University.

"I have had the tremendous opportunity over the past six years to work for Northeast Georgia Health System in the public relations office," Dubnik says. "During my time at the hospital, marketing and public relations strategy quickly became a passion of mine."

"I feel it is genetically ingrained in me to help my community, to give back and make it a better place to live and work," Dubnik continues. "I feel the best way I can achieve this goal is to marry my passion for service with my passion for marketing and offer it to the community through Forum Communications."

Forum Communications is currently serving clients in the northeast Georgia region with plans to expand into the Atlanta market.

"The firm is officially open for business," Dubnik says. "I have an amazing team of industry experts partnering with me to provide a top-notch product to clients. They have the same passion for what they do, and for this community, that I have and, with my team by my side, I know we can offer the community a fresh, innovative and creative approach to marketing."
