GAINESVILLE -- Evan Gattis has been a revelation for the Atlanta Braves so far in 2013.

On Saturday morning, Braves fans showed just how impressed they are with the 26-year-old rookie, flocking to Carriage Kia in Gainesville just to get a glimpse -- and maybe a signature or photo or two -- from the explosive catcher.

Gattis took it all in stride, though it would have been easy for him to get overwhelmed. After all, this was his first public appearance, and fans from all over north Georgia squeezed into the Carriage showroom, singing his praises (and cheering his entrance).

Like he has shown at the plate for much of this season, however, Gattis is no ordinary rookie. And he seemed at home under the bright lights, sharing time with fans -- including contest winner Lee Price, who was first in line to meet the player that has crushed 14 home runs and 37 RBI so far this season. Price earned the front row spot courtesy The Morning Show with Bill and Joel on WDUN AM550/FM102.9.

Though Gattis is currently on the 15-day disabled list, courtesy an oblique strain (he will be eligible to return July 3 -- though there is currently no timetable for his return), the 6-foot-4 catcher spoke positively about his future and is excited to get back onto the field.

After watching Gattis smack game-winning home runs, including in pinch-hit appearances, Braves fans also anxiously await his return.
