CUMMING - The Division of Aging Services of Georgia (DAS) recently named a Forsyth County man its "Senior Champion of the Year."

Ted Borzak was recognized at a June 5 awards banquet luncheon in Macon and representatives of Forsyth County Senior Services were on hand to present the award.

Following his participation in programs within the county such as the senior hiking club, Forsyth County Senior Services nominated Borzak to Legacy Link, Inc. as a candidate for the "Senior Champion of the Year." Forsyth County is one of 13 counties in Legacy Link's region, and Legacy Link selected Borzak to represent its region at the state level. Once Borzak was selected by Legacy Link, it was up to DAS to choose the "Senior Champion of the Year" from among all those submitted by the 12 regions in Georgia.

"This is a tremendous honor for Mr. Borzak and we are very proud DAS has chosen him to receive the award," said Director of Forsyth County Senior Services Michael Bohn. "Senior Services provides a wide variety of programs and activities to enrich the lives of the older adults in our community. Mr. Borzak is a great example of someone taking advantage of these offerings and really living life to its fullest."

The criteria for the "Senior Champion of the Year Award" included having a positive attitude, being smoke free, being physically active and eating healthy.
