GAINESVILLE - Once fall rolls around, Hall County is hoping to have a new logo in place to use as a marketing tool.

In the past, the Hall County seal has served as the county's logo, and the seal will not disappear, according to Hall County Public Information Officer Katie Crumley.

"That will continue to be the official county seal used by the courthouse and on any legal documents," said Crumley.

The idea behind developing a logo is to give Hall County brand recognition.

"A Hall County logo would act as a marketing tool for the area, giving it brand recognition, which could ultimately play a factor in economic development and the county's overall success in the future," said Crumley.

She said the new logo would appear on letterhead for each county department, as well as on business cards and other marketing items.

Crumley said the county doesn't want to design a logo without getting input from the community, however. A survey is available now on the Hall County website, asking residents for their opinion on everything from color scheme to images to font design.

The survey also offers citizens an opportunity to submit their own logo designs.

"Also if they have a slogan idea for Hall County - people that are good with words - they can submit that," said Crumley. "We really want this whole process to come from the community."

In addition, citizens can sign up to participate in a focus group session to further develop the new logo design.

The deadline to complete the survey is July 5. Crumley said the plan is to have a new logo ready by late summer or early fall.
