Rabid bat found in Hall Co.

GAINESVILLE - Hall County officials reported the county's fifth confirmed case of rabies Monday morning, this time a rabid bat found inside a residence.

Authorities said the rabid bat was discovered at a home on Briarwood Drive just off Cleveland Highway. They said they received the positive results of the rabies exam on Friday, June 14.

Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid bat was located. If you live in this area or you see an animal acting abnormally in the area, contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or during non-working hours call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
