Gainesville hosts Championship Regatta, could draw thousands to area

GAINESVILLE - The American Collegiate Rowing Association National Championship Regatta comes to Gainesville this weekend and brings heavy traffic along with it.

Over 1500 competitors and coaches and 500 spectators are expected to attend the prestigious championship, according to Lake Lanier Rowing Club President John Ferris.

Traffic on Clarks Bridge Road is expected to be heavier than normal from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.

This is the third year Gainesville will host the regatta.
