CLARKESVILLE - The Habersham County Board of Education voted 4-1 Wednesday to partner with the Habersham County Sheriff's Office for law enforcement services in the school system.

The move came in a called meeting and effectively dissolved the current school system police department at the end of this school year.

Board member Pat Taylor, who had been outspoken about the proposal in previous meetings, cast the lone no vote.

That 4 p.m. called meeting continued about 6:45 p.m., with the board in closed session to discuss personnel and real estate.
