A late afternoon report Sunday from Hall County officials put the rainfall total in Flowery Branch at 7.5 inches in a six-hour period. In addition, there have been unconfirmed reports of 6+ inches of rain in other parts of northeast Georgia.
At Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville, by 9:30 Sunday morning, 1.65 inches had been recorded. Sugar Hill, in North Gwinnett, reported 2.92 inches.
The level of Lake Lanier increased .87 of a foot overnight. The level Sunday morning was 1073.06, up from 1072.19 just 24 hours earlier.
The heavy rains resulted in a number of flooded roads in South Hall and North Gwinnett. (See separate story.)
