Jackson Co. School Supt. resigns

JEFFERSON - Just one year after accepting the position, Jackson County School Superintendent Dr. John Green has announced his resignation according to a report in the Jackson Herald Today.

The report says that his resignation was accepted unanimously at a called meeting Wednesday evening.

Green came to Jackson County from Madison, Alabama, on June 29th of 2012 following the retirement of Dr. Shannon Adams. Previous to that Green served in Georgia as Assistant Superintendent for Gwinnett County Schools, principal at North Gwinnett High School, Associate Principal of Brookwood High, Assistant Principal of Berkmar High, and teacher and coach at Meadowcreek High.

According to the report in the Herald Today, Green said that his resignation was related to retirement benefits. The school system's website has announced a special called meeting of the Board of Education for Monday night at 7PM.
