Team USA is looking to improve upon its performance last weekend in the World Cup opener last weekend in Szeged, Hungary. They are gearing up for this weekend's competition.

For Maggie Hogan (San Diego, Calif.) and Kaitlyn McElroy (Oklahoma City, Okla.), they will try to best their Bronze medal-winning race in Women's K2 1000m. In the Olympic distance of K2 500m, the duo hopes to crack the A Final after narrowly missing out in Hungary.

In Men's K1 200m, 2012 Olympian Tim Hornsby (Atlanta, and a member of the Gainesville-based Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club)) and Ryan Dolan (Kailua, Hawaii) aim to improve upon their B and C Final finishes last weekend. Dolan also reached the 500m B Final.

The four paddlers were selected based on their performance at the 2013 U.S. Sprint Team Trials in Oklahoma City, Okla, April 26-27. The 2013 World Championships Team will be announced after the World Cups.

"We are all working hard for the same goal to take American canoeing to the next level and its very exciting to be in an such a positive environment with Ryan, Maggie, and Kaitlin all striving towards such lofty goals," Hornsby (kayak) said. "I love competing with them against the best in the world and really love seeing everyone do so well. I dream about it all year, It really makes all of the hard work training worthwhile. I'm excited to see what this team can accomplish in the next World Cups and at the World Championships. It's going to be an exciting year."
