CLEVELAND - A pre-dawn fire destroyed a home on Spring Crest Road off Alt. 75 Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported at 3:53 a.m., according to White County Public Safety Director David L. Murphy. He said the first units arrived on the scene at 4:10 a.m. and found the two-story wood frame house fully involved in flames.

White County Station 6, with mutual aid from Cleveland City, Helen City and Lee Arrendale Fire Services responded to the fire.

The occupants of the home were out of town, according to Murphy.

AccessNorthGA.com reporter Rob Moore was at the scene as clean-up was taking place. He said the home was leveled and what appeared to be a detached garage and a car also were destroyed in the fire.

Murphy confirmed that the home is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
