Hall-Dawson CASA brings home state award

ATLANTA - About 400 CASA volunteers, staff and board members recently attended the annual Georgia CASA Conference, celebrating 25 years of CASA advocacy in Georgia.

The conference was held in downtown Atlanta.

At the conference, Connie Stephens, executive director of the Hall-Dawson CASA program, accepted the conference's 2013 Innovative Program Award of Excellence.

The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program is a non-profit organization with the mission to "protect and promote the best interest of abused and neglected children involved in the juvenile courts" by utilizing trained, screened, and supervised community volunteers who provide "quality advocacy and representation to these innocent victims."

CASA volunteers "are trained to promote and protect the best interest of abused and neglected children with the goal of reaching a permanent resolution as quickly as possible."
