The production, a Tony award-winning spoof on Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 thriller by the same name, is the final production of GTA SouthernStage's inaugural season at Buford's new Community Center.
In the play, four professional actors portray 150 different characters, racing vaudeville-style through the original story of Richard Hannay, an innocent man mistakenly caught up in a spy caper.
"This is exactly what Hitchcock, who was in control of every detail in his film projects, would NOT want since this play puts so much of the story and character details into the hands of the actors," Hammond explained at a free Stage Tour held on March 28.
"Our actors move swiftly in and out of characters with different accents, walks and postures, throwing a stream of creative information to the audience, whose imaginations catch it and complete the caricatures based on their personal experience, and probably their favorite memories of Hitchcock movies."
