Some improvements to the venue have been made in recent months. These include new picnic tables for the pavilion, additional landscaping, and enhancement of both agricultural and literary exhibits in the barns.
The Reece Farm and Heritage Center is located about nine miles south of Blairsville on U.S. Highway 129, approximately one mile north of Vogel State Park.
Reece, Georgia's Appalachian Poet/Novelist, was born near Blairsville in 1917 but died 41 years later in in Young Harris in 1958, his life cut short by "illness and suicide," according to the Byron Herbert Reece Society website. During his lifetime, he produced five volumes of verse and two novels.
