Golf: GHS boys 2nd after first round of Georgia-South Carolina Cup

GREER, S.C -- The Gainesviille boys golf team is in second place after the first round of the 2013 Georgia-South Carolina Cup Friday at the par-72 Willow Creek Country Club.

The Red Elephants shot a team total of 303, tying for second place with South Aiken (SC), and four strokes behind leader Westminster-Atlanta.

Pep Brown paced Gainesville with 74, three shots behind the individual leader. Nathan Williams fired a 75, Spencer Ralston had a 76, Jackson Bishop had a 78, and Lawson King shot an 82.

Individual players Grant Lasseter shot a 77 and Reeves Bell fired an 82 for the Elephants.

The second round will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Willow Creek Country Club.
