CLEVELAND - A White County man received serious burns Thursday night while burning leaves.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Highway 254, according to White County Public Safety Director David Murphy. Murphy said the victim was conducting a control burn when a jar or some other object exploded, burning him.

The victim was transported by private vehicle to Mossy Creek Grocery where emergency personnel were dispatched. Murphy said the man suffered burns over the front part of his body.

Murphy said after emergency personnel evaluated the patient, they determined he needed to be transported by helicopter to a burn facility.

The name of the burn victim was not released. His condition is not known.
